The Unofficial Start of Summer: Memorial Day Weekend + My Must-Haves

The Unofficial Start of Summer: Memorial Day Weekend + My Must-Haves

This weekend is the unofficial start to summer, which makes it the unofficial start to my favorite time of year. I would say favorite season, but growing up in the South means summer and fall morph together into one giant, hot, humid, incredible half of the year. Most of my favorite things happen during these months: days by the pool, suppers cooked on the grill, beach trips, evenings on the back porch, and—slowly but surely—the beginning of football season.

But before beach trips and pre-season football comes Memorial Day weekend. And before diving into my summer essentials, I want to take a moment to honor the true meaning of Memorial Day. This weekend is more than just a kickoff to summer—it’s a time to remember and reflect on the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Living in a military community, I’m constantly reminded of the deep sacrifices made by our service members and their families. Even as we enjoy time with loved ones, it’s important to carry that gratitude with us and honor their memory in meaningful ways.

As the school year wraps up, the days get longer, and the temperatures rise, I can’t help but think of all the amazing memories waiting to be made in the coming months. Here’s to the start of summer. May we never take this life—and our immense blessings—for granted!

My Summer 2025 Must-Haves

TRVL Backpack

An exciting new line for us! TRVL has been an essential for me as a mom on the go. Made from durable, stain-resistant fabrics and coatings, it’s the perfect companion for whatever your summer holds. From a backpack for day trips to large totes for swim lessons, TRVL bags are at the top of my list for Summer 2025. BuDhaGirl All Weather Bangles (AWB)

I’ve never been known to say, “I think that’s too much jewelry.” I love to stack and layer my necklaces and bracelets, but sometimes it can be too much in the summer heat. Enter BuDhaGirl bangles—lightweight, waterproof, durable, and of course, stylish. Perfect for a beach day or a date night on a warm (read: HOT) restaurant patio. Start with the classic gold—they look amazing with a tan and go with everything. If you’re looking for summer-ready waterproof jewelry, these are it.

California Mango Skincare

I can’t pick just one product. Body butter, SPF lip balm, hydrating skin mist… all super hydrating with the best mango scent y’all have come to know and love. These are the products I keep within reach all summer long. Pro tip: Pair them with our Sunsets in Capri perfume for the ultimate fresh summer scent combo.

HOST Freeze Glasses

True story: we tested these out by the pool on the 4th of July last year. I can confirm that these HOST freeze glasses are legit. They kept everything cold—some drinks even turned to slush—in the middle of a July day in Louisiana. They’re available in styles for just about any drink you can imagine, and they make a great gift. If you're looking for poolside accessories that actually work, this is it.

Party Tub

Ice it down with your drinks or use it to make the ultimate gift basket. You could even pop a potted plant in it for a quick and easy centerpiece at your next party! Featuring the cutest scallop edge and a removable tub for easy cleaning, this woven party tub is the functional statement piece you’ll reach for again and again. Stylish, practical, and perfect for entertaining indoors or out.
